Russell Napier For almost twenty years he has been the author of The Solid Ground global macro report published originally by CLSA and now published independently. He is a director of the Mid Wynd International Trust and The Scottish Investment Trust. Russell runs a two day course in financial history (A Practical History of Financial Markets) aimed at professional investors and in 2014 launched a new business and financial history library (The Library of Mistakes). Russell’s book, Anatomy of The Bear: Lessons From Wall Streets Four Great Bottoms, was published to public and critical acclaim in 2005.
Chris Turnbull co-founded ERIC as the culmination of a 20 year career in capital markets. Following an 11 year career as a buy side trader with Ivory and Sime and Standard Life Investments he left his role as an Investment Director at SLI to broaden his knowledge and entrepreneurial experience. Stints at Instinet taking a leading role in the establishment of an outsourced trading desk, Instinet Alpha and ICAP in the establishment of the BlockCross MTF followed. Latterly Chris has been consulting in the area of regulation in the unbundling of research and execution, which led to the establishment of ERIC.
Barry McAlinden has joined ERIC as a Business Development Director, based in Hong Kong. Barry has spent the last 8 years covering Asia Pacific institutions, most recently at Standard Chartered and previously at CLSA on Asian equities. Prior to that, he worked at Deutsche Bank in Sydney as a member of the Equity Strategy team. He spent the early part of his career in chartered accounting in the UK and Ireland.
Roberta Sanminiatelli joined ERIC as a Business Development Director in the fall of 2015 from J Capital Research where she was director of sales for UK and Europe. She spent the previous 15 year first as institutional equity research sales for major sell side institutions as UBS DB and DLJ and later for Marex Independent research team. She began her career in Fixed Income both on the sales and prop trading sides. She has an undergraduate degree in Economics from Bocconi University. She is based in London.
Simon Dakers joined ERIC as a Business Development Director in late 2016. He started his apprenticeship with Walter Scott & Partners before moving to the Far East. For fifteen years he was based in Bangkok on the equities trading side for the firms, Hoare Govett, ABN AMRO, Salomon Smith Barney and finally at Citibank as Head of the Dealing Desk in Bangkok. He is now based in Edinburgh.
Fidelio Tata joined ERIC’s Advisory Board in 2017. He is a senior market structure specialist with 20+ years of executive experience in derivatives marketing, institutional sales, risk management, global fixed-income research and bank advisory. Fidelio is a professor of finance and a retired managing director on Wall Street. He also served for many years as a senior advisor at Germany’s largest consulting firm that is exclusively dedicated to financial institutions. He is based in Berlin.
Stephen McKeever has over 20 years of experience in equity research and sales. Stephen began his career in equity research with Jardine Fleming in Hong Kong in 1995. After stints in London with Robert Fleming and JP Morgan he returned to Hong Kong with Lehman Brothers to cover the Internet and Media sectors. In 2006, Stephen joined Goldman Sachs in equity sales. He subsequently moved to Standard Chartered where he ran the Hong Kong equity sales desk. Prior to joining ERIC, Stephen was head of Asia ex-Japan sales at Mizuho Securities.
Richard Cooper After a seven year career in five star hotel management, Richard joined the city in the early 90’s and now has over 20 years experience with top tier sell-side institutions; working with both Asian and global equity products. Richard is a keen student of financial and political history, runs his own motor sport consultancy and is an active trustee and fundraiser for Sense International; a charity that provides education and therapy services for deaf blind children in emerging economies. Richard firmly believes that the challenge presented to the industry by Mifid II is an real opportunity for high quality independent content to come to the fore, rather than the current sell-side focus on cutting prices of research products many buy side professionals did not want even when it was free.
